Return to Play Covid Protocols

Dear Club and League Representatives:

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) issued an amended Emergency Order under MCL 333.2253 – Gatherings and Face Mask Order. The Emergency Order goes into effect on Friday, March 5, 2021. The Order remains in effect through April 19, 2021.

For reference, MSYSA remains in Phase 5.5 as outlined in our Return-To-Play (RTP) Guidelines. With respect to organized contact sports, including soccer, all participants must wear facial coverings during practices and competitions. In addition, all participants must maintain 6 feet of social distance from each other when not engaged in play. Gatherings of non-participants for the purpose of observing sports practice and competition must be held consistent with Section 3 of the Emergency Order. New gathering size restrictions for entertainment facilities, recreational facilities, food establishments and exercise facilities are also outlined in the Order.

At this time, there are currently no exceptions on the use of facial covering by participants in organized contact sports, including soccer. For additional information on the use of facial coverings by participants and spectators, please review our RTP Guidelines.
